Lianhe Zaobao: "Wealth Management Institute to train 5,000 professionals over five years"
According to Lianhe Zaobao [1], WMI Chairman Mr Ng Kok Song revealed at a press conference yesterday that WMI is committed to training 5,000 wealth management professionals in the next five years.
Citing the latest Global Wealth Report by Credit Suisse, Ms Cynthia Teong, WMI's Executive Director and CEO, said that with the number of millionaires in Singapore expected to increase to 400,000 in 2016, the industry needed more wealth managers with professional competence and experience.
However, Ms Teong also noted that the global financial crisis and present sovereign debt crisis have resulted in changes to the wealth management landscape as well as pressures for greater accountability and responsibility amongst wealth practitioners. To address this, it is now necessary to review and update [wealth management] curriculum and standards.
